Evening Programme Start Date
All Evening Programme registrants are asked to note that the start date for the Evening Programme is the week of January 26, 2026 according to your designated class day. Interested persons may apply online at any time, however requisite fees must be paid at BVTB Headquarters on Culloden Road, St. Michael (cash or cheque only). See our class schedule here.
Applicants are reminded to complete payment in full by January 23, 2026 to secure your place on a course. As places on the Evening Programme are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, persons wishing to register for a course should confirm their place by paying the necessary fees in full as soon as possible after registration as the course may become full before the registration deadline.

- Will I be paid while on the Apprenticeship Programme?
Yes, note that the wage paid varies according to the company which employs you. An apprentice is paid 45%, 55% and 75% of a regular employee’s pay in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively.

- Is there a fee for attending Skills Training Programmes (STP)?
Barbadians do not have to pay any tuition fees to attend the Board’s Skills Training programme. Tuition is free of charge. In addition the Board provides all students with a stipend which will assist with expenses including lunch and transportation costs. Non-Barbadian students with the requisite visa are required to pay tuition fees.

My experience at Structural Systems has been a positive one. My supervisors were helpful throughout the practical training. The Apprenticeship Programme allowed me to further my welding studies, more specifically at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic. Currently, I am attending at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic where I am studying Electrical Installation. My manager, supervisor and my workmates at Structural Systems are supporting me in my studies.
I would advise any youngster, who wants to acquire skills to apply at the Barbados Vocational Training Board and attend the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic. My advice would be get a skill and “keep off the block”.
