The Relais La Corte dei Tini is one of the most charming historic residences in Abruzzo.

Surrounded by the green hills of the Aprutino Appennines, it is equidistant from the Gran Sasso mountain and the sandy beach of Roseto along the Adriatic Coast.

It is also located a few kilometers from the center of Teramo. The beautiful villages of Campli, Civitella del Tronto, and Isola del Gran Sasso, home to the Sanctuary dedicated to the patron saint of Abruzzo, San Gabriele, are also less than an hour's drive away.

Maccheroni con le pallottine? Basically a long 'chitarra' pasta covered in a meatball sauce.

Le Virtù? Any other?

They meet further downstream but, before they do, it was here the ancient capital of the Pretuzi tribe was built.

The Valle Siciliana in Abruzzo is located in the north-eastern side of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park.

The surprising name has actually nothing to do with Sicily but derives from the ancient Roman road called the Via Cecilia which connected Rome with the land of the Piceni and the Adriatic coast.

Uova in Purgatorio (Eggs in Purgatory) is the most simple and iconic of dishes, requiring just a few basic ingredients.

Though Campania, and particularly Naples, claim its origins, you can find it all around Italy and especially in Abruzzo where red and green peppers feature.

The curious name probably refers to the colour of the white eggs floating in the tomato sauce represents the flames of purgatory although in Tuscany a version is called "alla Garibaldina", a nod to the red colour of jackets of Garibaldi's men.
