Located in the West of Vienna, the area was a game reserve during the monarchy. Nowadays, it is a small nature reserve protecting one of the last old oak forests in eastern Austria.
Geologically of note for the occurrence of volcanic rocks (tuffs, tuffites, picrites).
There are also several localities where petrified wood has been found.
