Bedrock was exposed by the construction of the Riesa-Chemnitz Railway cutting through the Pfaffenberg. The nanogranitoid-bearing rocks in these four localities consist of high pressure (HP0), and HP/UHP eclogites forming lenses and/or layers in serpentinized garnet peridotites.
