Formation in Maine
The phosphate minerals of Maine are found principally within granitic...granitic pegmatites in
Oxford, Androscoggin, and Sagadahoc counties located in the south central portion...Newry complex of pegmatites, the Black Mountain quarries in
Rumford, and from miscellaneous occurrences...known primary source. The primary phosphates in
Maine are few: fluorapatite, triphylite, lithiophilite...Monazite-(Ce) is also a
primary pegmatitic phosphate in Maine, but unlike the

The laws and policies of Maine and the United States prohibit

to an inch in...Custer, South Dakota with quartz,
albite, muscovite, black tourmaline and
triphylite.
DICKINSO^ITE, a complex...Branchville and Portland, Connecticut; and at Poland, Maine in lithium
pegmatite.
F1LLOWITE, with the same composition...dickinsonite occurs sparingly at
Branchville, Fairfield county, Connecticut.
FAIRFIELDITE, a hydrous phosphate...Fairfield
county, Connecticut from which it was
named; and also from Poland and Buckfield, Maine; and from |  | | Journal (article/letter/editorial) | | in pegmatites.
It has been found at the Andrews quarry,
Portland, Connecticut; with monazite crystals...New York City, N.Y. ; at the Dake mine,
Mitchell County, North Carolina; with
tysonite in Cheyenne Canyon...Springs, Colorado; and with rutile
in Alexander County, North Carolina.
MONAZITE, is essentially a phosphate...half inches
in size at the Dake mine in Mitchell
County. It occurs also in crystals at the
Ray mine near...Burnsville and the Ramsey
mine near Toledo in Yancy County, North

THE MICA WORKINGS OF
BLACK MOUNTAIN, RUMFORD,
MAINE.
One fine summer day in 1939 Mr.
Bartsch...road
which led straight up to the workings on
Black Mountain. It was a continuous
stretch of mud and only...sled hitched to the
tractor.
The Grand Old Man of Maine, Mr.
Charlie Marble of Buckfield, told me
long ago...Shavey.
Noyes Mountain in Greenwood, Maine is
named after him.
The first impression of the quarry was
tremendously...his neighbor Mr.

Maine elbaite tourmalines which were thor
oughly discussed...for the crystal specimen quality
of the San Diego County materials - both old
and new.
As usual, the exhibits...both the county (pro
vince) and its capital; there are thirty-one separate mines
in the county. The mines...another new borate mineral at Borax Lake,
Lake County, California, and in 1939 was co-author with
W. |  | | Journal (article/letter/editorial) | | California; 550 ppm-Maple Lode mine,
Aguanga Mountain, California; and 400 ppm-Satao
(viseu), Portugal]...crystals but changes to translucent dark blue or black in less

THE FENGJIASHAN WOLLASTONITE MINE, DAYE
COUNTY, HUBEI PROVINCE, CHINA. B. Ottens,
Klingenbrun-Banhof...visited the Fengjiashan Wollastonite mine in
Daye County, and a huge number of well-developed minerals have...that have not previously been
reported.
The Gole quarry, approximately 80 kilometers north of
Bancroft...positive identification of
kamotoite-(Y) from the Gole quarry was confirmed. In 1999,

beginning...beginning of the 20th century, the Trimouns quarry became well
known to collectors around 1990 for the...long (Marty, 2004 ).
AFRICA
widely in Litchfield County, where good crystals were taken from
quartz veins...old dumps. In 1975-1976, Brunet collected sharp,
black, flattened hexagonal ilmenite crystals to 7 .5 cm...region (Brunet, I 977b ).
