Rinkite-(Ce) from
Poudrette quarry (De-Mix quarry; Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Carrière Mont Saint-Hilaire; MSH), Mont Saint-Hilaire, La Vallée-du-Richelieu RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

Locality type:Quarry
Classification
Species:Rinkite-(Ce)
Formula:(Ca3Ce)Na(NaCa)Ti(Si2O7)2(OF)F2
Comments:Much controversy has surrounded the validity of the two related species rinkite and mosandrite for many years. The long history of the studies of these two species is detailed by Sokolova and Cámara (2008) and by Bellezza et al. (2009a and b). Mosandrite and rinkite are both valid, distinct species, differing in their chemical, crystallographic and structural features (IMA-09-C). Over the years, both species appeared on various lists and labels from MSH. Both species were confirmed in multiple specimen by XRD, EMP WDS analyses (Camara et al. (2011) Can. Museum of Nature (2016) unpublished data).
