And yet it still kills 1.6 million people each year.

About a quarter of the global population is estimated to have been infected with #tuberculosis bacteria. Some will self-clear the infection but 5-10% people may go on to develop TB disease.
Those who are infected but not (yet) ill with the disease cannot transmit it.
